Ride bikes. Have fun. Be awesome. Joining NICA gives your child an outdoor adventure where they learn new skills, build confidence and meet other students from across the state. It’s not just a sport for their school years—it’s a lifelong, healthy, fun activity!
Student athletes should be going into 5th grade - 12th grade during the summer before the new school year starts.
All riders should have at least the minimum; a properly sized mountain bike with front shocks (no e-bikes), helmet, water bottle or hydration back-pack, and a bike light for fall riding. The team has a limited number of loaner bikes.
Practice Ready means you have
During practice, athletes will be organized by experience/skill level. This will allow each group to ride at their group pace and skill level. But during practice, there will also be times that the entire team will ride together. This will allow the team to build bonds and allow the newer riders to learn from the more experienced riders.
During races, the athletes will race in categories with other athletes of similar skill and experience, in either middle school or high school levels, with separate boys and girls categories.
